A Year End Message from JAHM Staff & Board
Dear Friends of the Joliet Area Historical Museum,
As the close of another year approaches, we want to express our sincere gratitude to our visitors from both around the corner and around the world who have experienced the Joliet Area Historical Museum (JAHM). Tens of thousands have visited our facilities, attended our events and been educated and enriched by our cultural programming.
This year, growth at JAHM continued as we celebrated the grand opening of the Joliet Railroad Museum. Situated inside the Historic Union Depot Tower at the Joliet Gateway Transportation Center, the museum is a beautiful testament to our industrial heritage and represents the continued importance of transportation to our region.
The Joliet Railroad Museum marks our third property open to the public since 2018. Our dedicated staff works incredibly hard to keep these four Museum experiences open and accessible to our members and visitors. It is no easy task, and we need the help and financial support of our community to continue to make that happen.
As we approach the 2026 Route 66 Centennial, we commit to you that JAHM will continue to work tirelessly to promote the City of Joliet within the growing opportunities at the State and Federal levels. Joliet deserves to be front and center in the story of this incredible American institution. Before Route 66 was “America’s Main Street,” it was “Joliet’s Main Street.”
